- Four (4) cups all purpose flour.
- One and half (1.5) tablespoon active yeast.
- Quarter (1/4) cup vegetable oil.
- Half (1/2) teaspoon salt.
- Three (3) tablespoon sugar.
- One (1) cup warm water.
For the filling:
- Half (½) Kg ground beef.
- One (1) large onion.
- Four (4) large tomato.
- Two (2) stock cube.
- One and half (½) teaspoon ground pepper
- Quarter (¼) teaspoon ground cinnamon.
- Half (½) teaspoon curry powder.
- One (1) ball cabbage.
METHODS:
For the dough:
* Pour the warm water in a bowl and add the yeast and sugar together.
* Allow to sit covered for five (5. Stir and add all other ingredients for the dough.
* Mix and knead for five (5) minutes and add in more water if the dough is hard (because we need soft and sticky dough).
* Cover and leave to rise in a warm place for thirty (30) minutes.
* Punch down the dough and knead.
* Divide into twelve (12) balls.
* Roll each ball on a pastry board to about ten (10) inches in diameter and one-eight (1/8) inch thick.
* Heat a frying pan(non stick).
* When hot, fry the bread on each side until both side are puffs and golden brown in color.
For the filling:
* Put the sauce pan on fire and add the beef, onions, pepper, stock cubes, curry and cinnamon powder.
* Cook until everything is brown and no water remaining.
* Off the heat.
* Cut the cabbages and dress with any salad of your choice (I used olive oil, lemon, salt and pepper for mine).
* Cut the tomatoes into quarter (1/4) inch rounds or slices.
* Fill the bread with a layer of cabbage, then layer the beef and top with tomatoes.
Roll the bread.
Finish all the bread.
Arrange them in a toaster, oven or pan and head both sides for just a minute and serve.
* You can dress your cabbage with salad cream, mayonnaise or vinegar depending on how you want the taste to be.
I sometimes mix ketchup and mayonnaise for the dressing and it turn out delicious.
Enjoy!!!
